Judy Salvaggio, Secretary Retired Ms. Salvaggio has been owner and director of Small World Child Development center in sealy for twenty-seven years since april 18, 1983. Small world is licensed for 161 children and serves families with infants through twelve years old. The center offers preschool curriculums for all ages. The majority of the preschool teachers at small world have received their child development associate credential with several other staff working on their early childhood degrees at local colleges. Ms. Salvaggio is currently involved with corporate hands quality improvement network and initiatives for children through the collaborative for children out of houston. She was formerly the austin county represenative on the childcare committee for the Gulf Coast Worksource. She believes that networking with other owners and directors is one of keys to having a quality center for our young children. Besides her passion to help develop young children, she is committed to staff development. Her philosophy is that a childcare center’s quality is due directly to the education and training of the staff. Ms. Salvaggio is currently a member of the National Association For The Education of Young Children, the HAEYC, and the Lone Star AEYC. Ms. Salvaggio and her husband, Mike have been married forty-four years this year and he is now helping her operate small world after retiring from Nabisco six years ago. They have two daughters, Stephanie and Teresa who are both with the Katy School District. Along with their two daughters and son-in-laws, Allan and Jacob, they spend as much time as possible with their three grandchildren Hannah, Michael and will. They are all very active at Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church in Katy where they have been members since 1982. Ms. Salvaggio’s hobbies include golfing, skiing, and biking. The children and staff that have attended or worked at small world will always be a special part of her life.
