Roger has been married to Vastene for 27 years. They have two children Michelle and Jason. Roger was born and raised in Houston, Texas. He served in the Air Force for nine years. For the last twenty-seven years, he has worked in the field of employment and job training. Currently he works at Workforce Solutions in Sealy as an employment counselor.

Roger has been a member and officer of Columbus Community Chest, Colorado Valley Drug and Alcohol Council, Colorado County Youth and Family Services, Columbus Elementary PTO, Columbus Civic Club, Colorado County Economic Development Organization, Family and Consumer Sciences/BLT Advisory Board, and the Houston-Galveston Economic Development Organization.

As a member of the Parish of the Nativity in Eagle Lake, he has served as a member of the finance committee, lay reader., offertory carrier.
